About Us
Survivor Impact is a network of survivors of sexual abuse and allies organizing to advocate for eliminating the statute of limitations for filing civil actions for child sexual abuse. Survivor Impact asks survivors and their allies to talk to their legislators and work together to change the law to better protect Iowa’s children. We are not affiliated with any other groups; we are everyday Iowa citizens volunteering our time and energy.
Sarah Hedlund,
Co-Chair
Sarah Hedlund is a CSA survivor and outspoken advocate for survivor rights. She is the co-host of the Blooming After Grooming podcast, which focuses on grooming, sex abuse, prevention, and how abuse is portrayed in pop culture. Sarah has worked with survivors, legislators, the press, and allies to advance survivor rights and strengthen prevention efforts.
Sally Kenney,
Co-Chair
Sally J. Kenney was born and raised in Iowa, attended the University of Iowa, and taught in Political Science and Women’s Studies at the University of Iowa. She has been part of a national movement to end rape on college campuses and hosts a podcast called Deconstructing Rape. You can learn more about her work on sexual violence HERE.
